Rail tracks, they have a way of taking you on a journey even as you stand there just looking. Even if the tracks disappear under gravel and grass only a few hundred metres away. Good writing is perhaps like that, always takes you some place. Usually, a great destination.

The track lies alongside Upper Bukit Timah Road in Singapore near Rail Mall… unused, practically forgotten. It’s part of the railway network that once connected Woodlands in the north to Tanjong Pagar in the south. The line may have lost its trains and goods, but not its romance. People kept walking up to it as we took our shots. There was graffiti on the forgotten walls by the unnamed bridge, there were lovers strolling hand in hand.
